Hi All,
My name is Gabriele Piccini and I live in Vinci (FI) Tuscany - Italy. I'm married to Saura and we have two children, Davide and Francesca. I've been employed by a Telecomunications Company since 1989. My nickname is "Geppetto" as Pinocchio's famous carpenter.
This was given to me by my wife when she realized my passion for wood. Passion which, I think, comes from my grandfather who made everything by hand.

When I was young I spent a lot of time with him while my parents were at work. He was a farmer for long time until, as other folks of the time, he left the fields and went into a factory. But inside him remained the old craft of the time when a man must to do every thing with the things which the nature offers, therefore even the wood. I liked to see him while he cut a little piece of wood with a knife to do something, and I liked to smell the fragrance around. Small projects I remember. He built a small mannequin which was "moved" by the wind from a small fan and a wooden plough to make furrows in our small vegetable garden. He built just about everything by himself. If something was broken, he repaired it by himself.

Well, a few years ago, a book as a birthday present to my father-in-law -Lavori in legno by Mondadori- to make him into "a woodworker", ignited in me the "wooden soul". Ever since, all things about wood are of interest to me.

What amazes me every time is the soul which comes out when you arrive at the finishing state of the sanding or scraping the job, whether it's a simple board or a complex piece of furniture.
A third dimension appears. You can see the depth of the grain. At least that's what occurs for me.

Cheers, Geppetto
P.S. Because my foreign scholastic language, surely, I'll do grammar errors, hence feel free e-mail me for corrections.
